This new office block for Russwood Ltd was certainly a unique build, not really like anything we’ve come across before. The building sits approximately 150mm off the ground on steel stilts which are bolted down on to concrete pads. The concrete pads were shuttered in place, were 1500mm deep with a 1200mm x 1200mm x 300mm base and 300mm diameter cylinder connected with 12mm steel. From foundation level the structure was timber beams and columns slotted and connected together with steel plates and bolts. In between the beams was then filled in with I joists to form both the floor and the ceiling. The front of the building was mainly windows however externally there was cladding above and in between the windows. There were a number of different claddings used to allow Russwood to show some of the products they have available. The back of the build was finished with K-rend external render. Some internal walls were also finished with K-rend render. The walkway in the reception area was finished with an array of different flooring again to allow Russwood to show some of the products they have available.
